My practice philosophy

Sacred Seasons Therapy was conceived with 2 concepts pulled together.

Liminal describes a between, a threshold. We stand within a liminality called life. At times, situations around us keep evolving and we find it very ambiguous and disconcerting. Other times, we might feel a change stirring in us and we face a crossroad.

Hiraeth, a Welsh word that has no direct English translation, expresses a sense that we cannot fully describe. It is a homesickness, bittersweet yearning, a deep aching… A grief, a loss. Perhaps we have all left something behind with every move.

Grief is complex and not simply a one-dimensional feeling of gloomy sadness when someone’s passed on. Grief is experienced in various seasons of life, expressed often unexpectedly.

I live my life in sacred seasons. These have been my personal seasons - a time to study and a time to work; a time of serious illness and a time of health; a time to hold and a time to release.

My invitation to you is to come into this passage. And together, like the four seasons, we explore where you might be - season of rest, of awakening, of grief or approaching the solstice of the life transitions?

My experiences and qualifications

Master of Counselling (Interpersonal Dialogue) with Merit, University of Edinburgh, U.K.
Bachelor of Science (Hons), Physiology, National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore.

Registered Counsellor and Clinical Member, Singapore Association of Counselling (SAC)

Upon NUS graduation, I spent 10 years as a haematology-oncology clinical research coordinator in a Singapore hospital, where I witnessed medical crises shattered many dreams and how having someone alongside the psychological journey was invaluable.

While in Scotland for my Master of Counselling, I worked as a casual support worker, assisting clients with special needs in living dignified and independently. My counselling practicum and volunteering in Scotland offered me opportunities to work with clients from varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Back in Singapore, I worked 5 years as a counsellor in a social sector agency, where I journey with clients from complex family dynamics in brokenness and strength.

From my broad experience, I hold particular passion for grief in diverse contexts, the embodied psychological impact of physical illness and working with people cross-culturally.

Supporting my personal groundedness are my pursuit of spirituality and my love for artistic expressions.

I am proficient in English and Mandarin, conversant in basic Cantonese and diligently improving in basic Spanish.
